Spiced Sangria
Serve 4-8
1 Bottle red wine
2 Cups apple cider
1 cup brandy
2 chopped apples
splash of orange liqueur
1/4 cup honey
1 cinnamon stick
2 cloves
1 anise star
cheese cloth
cooking twine
Make a sachet with the cheese cloth and cinnamon, cloves and anise. Tie tightly with twine.
In a pitcher mix wine, apple cider, brandy, apples, orange liqueur and honey.
Mix to combine.
Add the sachet to the wine mixture.
Place in fridge overnight.
Serve.
I think of Sangria fondly as a drink to be sipped during the hot summer months. If you add brandy, spices and apple cider then it is definitely a winter drink. Cheers!
